As someone who eloped, I can truly say that the day flies by. My husband and I eloped in the Rockies, froze our a**es off and the day still slipped away so fast. So here is what I would suggest, hire your photographer for at least eight hours. That seems so long…. Why not just four hours??? Let me tell you why.
An elopement is not just you standing in front of a beautiful location along the shores of Lake Superior. It’s not just you and your significant other saying a few I love you’s and smiling at the camera. It is a day where you can create an adventure curated to your relationship, all while capturing it on camera. It shouldn’t feel trendy, it should feel authentic. Do what you want to do for that day, but know that having to rush through your one and only elopement day is a huge loss! Let’s go through a sample timeline below!

If you choose eight hours of coverage (and I highly suggest that you do) the coverage does not need to be consecutive. What I mean is that you can take the first portion of the eight hours to start the day off with a sunrise shoot on the shore of Lake Superior. Maybe you’ll be in Grand Marais, you can grab a coffee and a donut at World’s Best Donut, sit down on the beach, snuggling, sipping on coffee and just enjoying the sunrise. Sunrise lighting is amazing and it is a slow and beautiful way to start your elopement day off.
After that you can head back to your Airbnb (or wherever you’re staying) to chill, play some games and start to get ready. Maybe you want me there to capture you getting ready and playing games, but once lunchtime rolls around you want some alone time. This is where we can break those eight hours up.
After lunch time you are ready to go! I restart the coverage and we start your adventure, whether that be hiking, canoeing, paddle boarding, brewery hopping, (exchanging vows and getting married are a must ofcourse). Many couples want golden hour photos at sunset as well, so we can start coverage back up to line up with the last hour of daylight so we get those dreamy golden images we all dream of!

With a four hour package you’re having to choose between what activities you want captured, which golden hour you want captured (either sunrise or sunset), which activities can you fit into a four hour window. It just isn’t enough time and you want to capture those special moments that would be missed if four hours was all you had covered.
I would love to help you build a perfect timeline that fits you and your love for nature and eachother. I can’t wait to hear all about your big day and what you have envisioned! Let’s start planning together!
