1. Eloping is less stressful (period). I eloped in 2019 and can tell you that I was less stressed than my friends who were wedding planning. There was no worries about who would be in my wedding, what color their dresses would be, how much food would cost, do we have an open bar… SO much planning. It was a no for me, I was not in the headspace to plan a huge party then flip the bill too. I wanted a day that was slow, steady and laid back, no rushing.
2.Being the center of attention did not sound fund to me. I can’t stand when people are staring at me- and at a wedding, that is a big part of the day. All eyes on the bride! I wanted to not worry about if people were pleased with my choices. If you are not a people pleaser and want something more laid back, then I really think that eloping is a great option for you!

3.You are not type A and you don’t want to stick to a strict schedule! I loved that I was able to wake up, have some coffee in bed the day of my elopement. There was no rushing! I was able to enjoy the day and slow down and just be present with my husband. You aren’t worrying about people seeing you before you walk down the aisle. No need to you worry about being late to the reception and supper, you make the timeline. The only attendees at this party is you two, nature and your photographer (who would hopefully be ordained of course)!
4.Eloping can be so unique. The elopement experience is completely tailored to you two. You get to dress up or down as much as you want. Say your vows without any interruptions. You get to be present on a day that is important. There are simply less expectations all around. Planning typical weddings spread people so thin.

There are some people who want the big wedding day and that is totally fine. If you are someone who is wanting laid back, all about you and your love kind of day spent outdoors in nature, I would really consider eloping! I am ordained and based in Northern MN (willing to travel), and I would love to help you plan your big day!
